See your GP for a referral. The referral can be uploaded online, faxed or posted to us.

2. Book an appointment

Upon receiving your referral, we'll review it to check eligibility. We'll then contact you to complete an intake form and schedule your appointment.

3. See Dr Dan for a first appointment

Your first appointment will be about 60 minutes long. We'll discuss your child's history, do an examination, and ask for more information from you and their teachers. Sometimes, we may need specialised investigations or assessments, such as with an educational psychologist, for detailed testing. This helps rule out other issues like specific learning problems or other mental health concerns that can seem like ADHD. It also helps us understand your child's strengths better.

4. Tailored ADHD management

For children diagnosed with ADHD, we create a bespoke management plan. This plan covers different aspects of ADHD management and may include strategies, programs, medications, referrals to other therapists, and alternative therapies, all presented in an easy-to-understand format.

5. Treatment optimisation

Next, we fine-tune the treatment to evaluate how well the management plan is working and keep a close eye on any potential side effects from prescribed medications. Our aim is to decrease ADHD symptoms over time, with minimal or no side effects, aiming for a notable improvement in the child's socialising, academic functioning or overall well-being.

6. Stabilisation and ongoing management

After the treatment stabilises, we conduct reviews every six months for continuous management (or less often if your would like your GP to co-prescribe). These check-ups involve screening for any associated difficulties or emerging problems, ensuring a thorough and proactive approach to the ongoing well-being of the child.

What services does InformADHD Children's Clinic offer?

InformADHD specialises in assessing and managing ADHD in children aged 6-16 years. Our services include comprehensive diagnosis, treatment management plans, and ongoing support.

Is the clinic only for children with ADHD?

Yes, our clinic focuses exclusively on ADHD in children. Unfortunately, we cannot accept referrals for general paediatric, medical or neurodevelopmental concerns other than ADHD.

Do you see children with ASD at InformADHD?

No, unfortunately. We do not provide assessments or longitudinal care for children with ASD.

This is for a number of reasons including the InformADHD model has some limitations, such as the absence of examination beds in the consult room. In our experience helping children with ASD, regular examinations on a consult bed for the medical issues that can co-exist in children with ASD is essential.
Furthermore, at InformADHD we provide self-directed information tailored specifically to ADHD between appointments. In our experience, children with ASD often require information tailored specifically to where they sit on the ASD spectrum. ASD and ADHD management often differs, but the issues can present in a similar way.

Do you provide online resources for families?

Absolutely. We offer engaging and easily understandable resources and online education to support families in better understanding and managing their child's ADHD.

How can I submit a referral to InformADHD?

You can securely submit a referral through our online form, or by fax, or your GP can send the referral via ReferralNet. Once received, we'll contact you to confirm eligibility and schedule an appointment.

How much does it cost to get an ADHD Assessment

The cost of an ADHD assessment at InformADHD involves multiple components. The initial appointment, which is the first step in the assessment process, is priced at $500. However, there is a Medicare rebate available, ranging from $140 to $250, resulting in an out-of-pocket cost between $250 and $360.

Follow-up appointments, are each priced at $250. With a Medicare rebate between $70 and $117 per session, the out-of-pocket cost per follow-up appointment ranges from $180 to $133.

In most cases, an ADHD assessment takes around 2-3 appointments, usually incurring out-of-pocket costs between $383 and $720, depending on the medicare rebate available and number of appointments.

It's essential to note that in some cases, a more in-depth assessment (and/or time to observe symptoms) may be required to reach diagnostic certainty. This may involve specialised testing by an external educational psychologist. Additional expenses will apply for such assessments, including IQ tests or achievement tests to measure academic potential, strengths, weaknesses, and current achievement.

The InformADHD clinic is unfortunately not equipped to provide longitudinal paediatric care for children with ASD, we acknowledge the significance of addressing every child's unique needs.

‍Referral Process for Further Evaluation: If there is suspicion of autism, our team may initiate a referral to other specialists with expertise in autism spectrum disorder (ASD) for a more in-depth evaluation.
